Heal Overused Muscle Injuries with Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique or ART is a relatively new, cutting edge treatment that heals soft tissue injuries involving muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and nerves. It is widely used in addressing sports injuries, overuse and repetitive strains and any acute or chronic injury in the body.

ART is an active type of massage treatment that is very effective and fast because it targets and treats individual muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Kristina Lentz uses Active Release Technique to treat clients with back pain, sciatica, neck pain, shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, nerve impingements, carpal tunnel, joint problems of all kinds, hip and knee problems, hamstring pulls, plantar fasciitis and shin splints.

During Active Release Technique massage, Kristina first shortens the specific muscle, tendon, or ligament, then applies pressure with her hands, and finally lengthens the tissue by moving it or having the client actively lengthen it by stretching their arm, leg, neck or torso in a certain direction. During Active Release Technique, short, injured muscles are lengthened and adhesions are released. Muscles that have been chronically stuck can once again glide across the bone, making their adjoining tendons flexible, pliable and strong. Scar tissue, which results from injury or overuse of muscles, is broken down during ART, providing greater flexibility to the body and helping to eliminate pain.

If you have painful soft tissue injuries and have tried other treatments with limited success, Active Release Technique from Beyond Massage in San Rafael might be just what you need to help you along the way to recovery. Many of Kristina’s clients have experienced significant improvements in just 4 – 6 treatments.
